In truth Yu had really been hoping that his friend might actually take to swim practice - though, in hindsight, maybe accidentally conning him into it hadn't been the best way to go about it. And now Yosuke's mad and...

He pretty much deserves it.

It's with his heart in his throat that he sends a text later that same night. He's gotta face the music somehow, and if he ends up losing Yosuke as a friend, then ... well ... at least he'll have tried.

[ Yosuke definitely hadn't been happy. He'd gone to practice with the understanding that he'd be supporting Yu, not that he'd been taking part.
