3/23, action
ANYWAY, Yu texted Yosuke sometime mid-morning asking if his friend might want to eat lunch together. He's actually made enough for both of them, just in case. (It's curry.) He wasn't really sure if-- does Yosuke bring his own lunch or get something at school? Will he even want anything Yu made? God, this case of nerves is eating him alive.
Any. Way. He's just kind of leaning against a wall in the hallway waiting for Yosuke to show up, a bag hanging off his arm as he fiddles with his phone. Small, nervous movements, though anyone who doesn't know him well might not know them for such. Outwardly he seems as calm as ever even if inside he's buzzing.
He's not even sure if he-- isn't he being forward? Moving too quickly? He and Yosuke are still getting to know each other, even if he thinks Yosuke is cute and the other boy's smile is something he's come to look forward to maybe a little too much. They study together now, for both their shared classes, and the more time they spend together, just talking and texting and being in each other's space, the worse this feeling gets. Yosuke is ... he's cute, and funny, and surprisingly sweet, and either, like, painfully straight, or kind of closeted. Jury's still out.
He has to stop thinking about this. If Yosuke picks up on the hints in the playlist, then... then they'll go from there. In the meantime, he's got to just... breathe. ]

In all seriousness, Yosuke has absolutely no reason to think that something is amiss. Actually, he's pretty stoked that he's been getting along with the twins so well. He has been lucky to meet a lot of people since moving to Recolle, although forming any meaningful relationships has been more difficult. Sure, he's got a good number of classmates and buddies he would hang out with, but never quite close enough. (His cousin definitely doesn't count.)
He's clicked quickly and easily with the twins. And since they're going to graduate this year, he might as well use what few months he's got with them at the same school.
Also, he's hungry. His mother makes his lunch about half of the time and the other half Yosuke fends for himself. So he's more than happy to give one of those days up for something else. He's not sure what Yu has in mind, but after the cafe, he trusts the guy's taste.
When he spots Yu leaning against the wall, Yosuke raises his hand in greeting. ]
Yo!
[ His gaze falls to the bag as he approaches. ]
Oh, shit, we were supposed to bring something?
[ Oops? ]
no subject
Boy, but that smile is cute, though.
Focus!
Trying a smile, Yu will push off the wall and wave in return - with his free hand, that is. When Yosuke asks that question, Yu blinks, glancing down at the bag on his arm before shaking his head and looking up again. ]
No, nothing like that. I just thought I'd make something for us in case you hadn't brought anything. Do you like curry?
no subject
What? Are you serious?
[ Yosuke's brows shoot upwards, eyes widening. ]
You made curry?
no subject
Was... that a mistake? ]
Yeah... [ Ducks his chin a little, his eyes searching Yosuke's face. ]
I hope that's alright.
no subject
Wh--yeah, of course! I just didn't know you could cook. When I make lunch it's usually throwing some pre-made stuff together if I wake up in time. You made curry.
no subject
It's nothing that special. Come on, let's go find a spot to eat. Maybe outside? It's a nice day.
no subject
[ Nothing special? A lot special, but he's probably made this a hundred times before so he doesn't how cool it is.
This time Yosuke leans the way, propping the door open for Yu as soon as they make their way down the end of the hallway and out into the courtyard. It is nice outside, though a little brisk for spring. Yosuke doesn't mind too much, at least not enough to complain about it since Yu went through the trouble of making food.
There are a few other groups of students situated around the area--some at tables, others sitting along the flower beds. ]
Any preferences?
no subject
Most of the tables are taken up, so Yu ends up nodding his chin towards the flower beds. ]
How about on the grass? I actually don't sit out here that often. It might be nice.
no subject
It hasn't rained today so, yeah, we're probably good.
[ He doesn't want to get his ass wet, okay.
So Yosuke leads the way over to one edge of the rectangular flower bed and plops down. ]
...Oh good, yeah, it's not wet. Whew!
no subject
And it seems like they will be! Yu will smile as he drops onto the grass next to Yosuke. ]
We got lucky.
[ Yu will set his bag down, and reach into it. Inside is a tupperware - a sizable one - full of curry. Like, it's not huge, but it's obviously enough for two. ]
no subject
Wouldn't be the first time, huh?
[ He's, of course, referring to them getting a window seat at that cafe the other day. Chalking it up to Yu's luck, not his, but it's nice to leech off of.
As Yu reveals the food, Yosuke can't help but get excited. He rearranges himself to sit criss-crossed and dumps his backpack to the side. ]
Oh man, I haven't had curry in weeks.
no subject
[ Which is a little funny to him. It's nice, at least.
Yu's smile warms, something easy and unselfconscious, as he sets the curry on the grass between them. He'll pull out some utensils, too, handing one to Yosuke. ]
I didn't know what flavors you liked, so I played it a little safe. Still, hopefully it's good.
no subject
[ He raises his brows at that. Maybe it shouldn't seem like a big deal since Yosuke was mostly just trying to be a little silly, but he's also never been someone that anyone would apply "good luck" to. So it sticks out. ]
Uhh, I was just figuring that was your influence, to be honest.
[ He's overthinking it, isn't he?
Either way, food is more important. Yosuke gladly takes the (spoon?), looking as excited as he feels. ]
It smells good! Is that...is this chicken curry?
no subject
My influence? I've never thought of myself as all that lucky. [ Thoughtfully: ] Maybe you're like my good luck charm?
[ That'd be funny. ]
Yeah, it is. Dig in.
no subject
Yosuke's laugh sounds like a half-choke because it's so sudden. ]
That'd be a first.
[ Yes, that would be funny.
He's ready to go to, though. So Yosuke raises his spoon and thanks the universe for this food before taking Yu's offer and digging in. It smells wonderful. As soon as the first bite hit his tongue, Yosuke is in love. ]
Oh wow.
no subject
The corners of Yu's mouth keep twitching, like he can't decide if he wants to smile or not. ]
Would it? Maybe your luck is changing.
[ Still, he waits to see Yosuke's reaction before starting to eat himself. Yosuke's response is ... gratifying, to say the least, and the tips of Yu's ears go a little pink. ]
Good?
no subject
At least he mostly finishes swallowing before he talks again. ]
No dude, it's not good...it's amazing! You seriously made this??
no subject
Flustered, Yu ducks his head and lifts a hand to rub the back of his neck, his smile a little crooked as he glances off to one side. ]
Yeah, last night. It's really nothing that special, but ... I'm glad you like it.
no subject
Do you cook for you and your brother?
no subject
We both cook, since we both know how. We take turns.
[ Ducks his head.
Be cool. Be cool, man. ]
By the way, I made a playlist, like we talked about. [ g l a n c e. ] If you wanted to hear it.
no subject
Oh, like when they were talking about Spotify?
Yosuke is kind enough to swallow before he he speaks this time. ]
Oh, yeah? Seriously? Totally, man!
no subject
I couldn't find everything I wanted on Spotify, so I tried this instead.
no subject
Improvising's good.
[ And Yosuke is always ready to listen to some tunes. His headphones are in his bag (yes, his bag), though he takes them out and flips the ear portions outward, allowing them each a side to tune in. He holds out the end of the chord. ]
Hook me up!
no subject
Half this playlist is, as the title says, very low-key, but it starts out more energetic. Still, he likes this first song; it's weirdly relaxing to listen to. ]
Think we'll have time to finish the whole thing before lunch ends?
[ If he means the curry or the playlist is open to debate. ]
