[ He thinks, tries, fails to say i made it for you. the words stay bound up in his chest, itching at his insides and making him feel unsettled as instead he holds out his phone for Yosuke. He's pulled up his YouTube app, and there seems to be a playlist open. ]

I couldn't find everything I wanted on Spotify, so I tried this instead.

[ When he sees that it's YouTube, Yosuke chuckles a little. ]

Improvising's good.

[ And Yosuke is always ready to listen to some tunes. His headphones are in his bag (yes, his bag), though he takes them out and flips the ear portions outward, allowing them each a side to tune in. He holds out the end of the chord. ]

[ Yu will take the offered headphone as a way to cover for the faint flush high in his cheeks. Taking the offered chord, he'll plug it in and start the first song.

Half this playlist is, as the title says, very low-key, but it starts out more energetic. Still, he likes this first song; it's weirdly relaxing to listen to. ]

Think we'll have time to finish the whole thing before lunch ends?

[ If he means the curry or the playlist is open to debate. ]

[ Yosuke eats slowly as he listens--some songs are familiar, some definitely aren't. But the mood is mostly very chill. He'll bob his head a long or tap his foot with the rhythm almost instinctually. (Really, it's hard for him not to listen to any sort of music and stay still.) The proximity doesn't bother him either. He's too wrapped up in the tracks, anyway. ]

[ Oh, that was Yu, not the music. Yosuke looks up a little sheepishly as he cleans off the end of his spoon with somewhat questionable table manners. ]

I dunno--were you planning on saving some for later?

[ He assumes the curry... ]

[ Yu will join Yosuke in eating, since he knows in an abstract way that he's still hungry even if in a physical way that feeling has been utterly consumed by a fluttering sensation in the pit of his stomach.

By the time they hit Everlong he's wishing he was dead or maybe that he'd picked less obvious music but all he can do now is pretend everything is chill, which he does do a bangup job of. Proximity? What proximity? ]

Wh-- the...

[ A pause, and a faint huff of a surprised laugh. ]

I didn't mean the curry. Have as much of that as you like. I meant the playlist. ]

Well, in that case...

[ Don't mind him helping himself to another mouthful or two. The curry is that good, Yu. ]

I dunno, we've got...

[ Yosuke pulls his phone out, turning the screen on to check the time. ]

--oh shit, like...five minutes left. [ He offers an apologetic smile like he has some sort of control over the passage of time. ] It's a good list though, Yu. It suits you.

[ Thoughtfully as he'll start to get everything together. They ought to start heading back if they've only got five minutes. ]

To be honest, I was selecting things I thought might suit your tastes. [ A slight smile. Quietly, he's proud of how casually he managed to say that. ] I guess I let my own tastes influence my choices more than I thought.

[ Packing up the curry, he'll say: ]

Want the rest? You can return the tupperware once you're done.

[ Yosuke raises his brows at that. ]

My tastes? [ Yosuke had been listening fairly causally, only in part because he was enjoying the food so much, but it does make him take pause and really listen. The song itself is very calm, quiet, the kind that slowly takes your attention and you're drawn in before you realize.

First you both go out your way

It's a guitar song. That must be it, right? Yosuke had recommended some artists for Yu to educate himself on. ]

Oh--hey, I could try to learn this on the guitar, actually! It sounds totally doable.

[ He looks excited by the prospect, at least. ]

Really? Thanks, man!

[ And equally excited about the leftovers. ]
