[ It's definitely one of the few times that his luck seems to be working out for once, but he'll gladly take it. His friends are what keeps him going, really, especially in circumstances like this. ]
I'm really lucky, yeah. I don't know what I'd be doing without them back home or here, whatever here ends up being.
[ But oh, she asked the best question. Because Yosuke has a whole bunch of feelings about his partner that are confusing to most people and a little excessive to the rest. A crime show would probably sound cooler. Sorry, Namine... ]
Ah, Yu? Well, he's my best friend and more, you know? He's an amazing guy and being around him helps me be a better person. He's the kind of person that everyone's drawn to and is able to inspire people just by virtue of being who he is. Like I said, we've already been through some crazy stuff and came out for the best. We've always got each other's back. [ HOW CAN SOMEONE SAY ALL THAT CHEESY BS SO EASILY, we will never know. ] So I'm proud to say I'm his partner.
[ At Yosuke's expense? Why is it always at Yosuke's expense. He gives a huff to show just how much he likes that take on things and crosses his arms. ]
Sure, but you might end up jabbing someone in the ass that won't be as nice as me.
[ Hey, that's cool. Yosuke speaks bro pretty fluently so he can tell a bro-touch from a boi-touch, if you know what I'm saying. (Do you? Because this is getting ridiculous.) ]
Yeah, yeah I get you. [ Bros don't rate each other's asses. They just don't. Except Yu's, maybe, but that's because they're partners. It's different okay.
When Leon tries and succeeds at becoming one with the wall, Yosuke feels very validated. ]
[ He's not so terribly unlike some other people she knows, in that respect. It's a mindset that she's quite familiar with, and one she's actually a little comforted to find here as well. In fact, the level of cheese with which he describes his dear friend is so strongly reminiscent of the preposterously high level of importance every good-aligned person in her corner of the universe seems to put on their relationships that she spends the whole time listening to his description with great interest, lips slightly parted. (That is, after the initial brow raise at the name 'Yu' and the accompanying flash of recognition.) ]
Oh...! So it's like that. [ The warm smile that's settled fully onto her mouth proves the lie of, ] I'm a little jealous, then, that you have each other. [ No she isn't, she's glad for them. Jealousy is something she had to let go of a long time ago. ] When I first came here I could only find one person I knew from my worlds, and he didn't remember who I was.
[ She ain't even disappointed in that explanation. In fact, she sounds very approving. (So apparently 'partner' in this context is a very... Important Friend?) ]
Your partner - you said his name was Yu. Does he have silver hair? About-- [ Lifting a hand, she makes an actually impressively accurate approximation of Yu Narukami's height. ] -- This tall?
And the set before that was just really disgusting. [Rise will someday be over the swamp. Today is not that day though. So when Yosuke's on his feet and Yu looks back at her, she perks up and nods.]
Hang on just a second, guys. I'll see what I can find out. [And with that there's a brief call of Persona! as she summons Kanzeon. It's nice not to have to double-check herself and just do it around her friends. With the Persona behind her, Kanzeon slips the band over her eyes and Rise scans the area, frowning in confusion.] This is really weird...it says we need to head straight out to the beach and keep going south, but the portal looks like it's in the water.
[ Okay, this is an important life lesson. He takes a deep breath to calm himself down. ]
Water in the ocean has got a lot of salt in it, okay? All that salt is bad for you and, like, sucks all the water out of your body and makes you dehydrated...Assuming you are made of water.
[ He is totally 100% pouting. Cheer up, Yosuke. The more pathetic you are the more you're making a case for why this never works out for you. But her swag did totally crush him, yes. Crushed his spirit, hopes, and dreams all in one fell swoop. ]
The whole point of a wingman is to get you dates. Besides, the girls that are going for you aren't really going to be into the idea of a guy, you know?
I doubt they're going to be offended by that, either. I can see why you would be particularly frustrated by that type, when insults based in morality appear to be your only defense against such attacks...
[ He sighs. He's disdainful, but it's not like he disagrees with the overall point. ]
[ Yosuke narrows his eyes. What's with this kid? Don't they realize that this is a beach on an alien planet or something like that? They shouldn't be poking people in the ass! ]
So what you're telling me is you get in trouble a lot.
[ Yosuke isn't crazy! Well, a little crazy, and maybe he should just accept that everyone has to let it hang out, but...why do that when you can stick your ass in a wall? ]
It's...not super uncomfortable? And I figure that it'll provide some cover until I figure out how to get outta here.
