[ That would really sound like she made it up or was a secret table-top gamer, if the situation hadn't already been weird to begin with.

But as soon as she let's go, he jumps backwards to avoid the blast, nearly losing his towel in the process. It takes him a second to get back up, readjust--it's important, okay--before making a run for the window as well. ]

--Here we go!

[ And by we, we mean him. He dive through and with good timing, because the room they were just in is done for. The drop isn't awful, but he still takes it with his shoulder before flipping over a little ungracefully onto his knees. ]

Oof...

[ The castle is still shaking, imploding in on itself, but he pushes himself up and turns his attention to Rei immediately. ]

[ He's been learning a lot from just talking to people, but it's not all been very easy to swallow. Even in the desert before he'd been warned about this place, he just didn't take it seriously. Because who would really believe that? But after leaving the desert, watching the world die, the presentation, then waking up to a new level on the beach...

It's been a very strange day. And let's be real, Yosuke is used to hanging out inside of a television on a very literal level. He's prepared for certain amounts of weird.

But what she describes is absolutely horrifying. ]

...What the hell? [ Monsters or people--that's awful. ] That sounds like the plot of a really messed up horror movie. What kind of people are these? CERES...

[ Probably not well! Because that's more than just an invasion of privacy. That's just...disturbing on so many levels. ]

[ Yosuke turns his gaze up to the sky, like he's expecting a giant eyeball to appear. ]

I guess if you've got absolute control, you really don't care if people know or like it.

[ He knows that Teddie isn't human, but he's still pretty confident no one should be ingesting this kind of thing in the first place. Yosuke places the cup back on the counter. ]

[ He nods again, listening quietly. Things he'll have to remember once he figures out how to "clear this level", so to speak. He's not that concerned about pets, but the rest is good to know. ]

So...it's futuristic? I guess that makes sense if it's an alien planet. That's still weird, by the way.

...Not everyone's from Earth? ...That shouldn't be surprising, huh?

[ That's really sweet, Mabel. A little misguided? But, you know, he doesn't have it in him to rain on her parade. Just...he's got to make sure she doesn't eat something she shouldn't because of it. ]

[ HE IS THE BEST FRIEND ONE COULD ASK FOR. If Merlin is even more remotely nice to him Yosuke may just die for him. ]

[ That doesn't really make him feel better about it. ]

[ He could very well be a zombie if a lack of dignity is enough to kill him. If that's the case, then he died a long time ago. But let's be real, he's not actually dead, just very embarrassed and having trouble coming to terms with how ridiculous this conversation is.

He knows that it's not the way to go. The fact that his ass is getting poked doesn't help. Yosuke can only take so much of it before he finally pulls himself up and swats behind him. ]

[ ...Did he just knocked to dad level and then a step further? Yosuke just kind of stands agape for a moment. ]

[ Darn. He was hoping he'd run into Yu in this place. Not...definitely not at all in relation to the awkwardness of this situation, but he still just wanted to touch base. You know. Totally innocuously. It feels kind of weird to do this without him.

So there they are, two bros being totally not weird about any of this, mostly naked, in a giant sandcastle. What is his life? ]

[ Is this one of those things where someone feels like they have to get the last word in, regardless? It's starting to feel like that. ]

Yeeeaah...that wasn't even very well done. I had to pinch myself to convince myself that I wasn't dreaming.

[ WERE YOU BRO? Yosuke's not sure he trusts this guy's judgment. He's a little too ready to be naked and blow everything up. Those don't seem like a good combination.

Yosuke looks suspicious. But, first thing's first... ]

It's better than bringing the whole thing down on top of everyone else, right?

YU & RISE

[ Months old? Well, it's definitely not fresh, but he's more surprised by the fact that Yu says he owes them both an explanation. Yosuke's gaze shifts to Rise quickly, judging her for some sort of reaction, but she keeps face well. So they'll save this for later, then. That's probably for the best, considering...well, everything.

Yosuke turns his attention back to Yu with a nod, accepting the hand as he's pulled to his feet. He gives Yu a nod as he let's go. ]

Yeah, sure thing.

[ He slaps his hands together, dusting off some stray grains of sand. Granted, there are other places he should clean off too, buuuuuut that can definitely wait at least until he's found a convenient bush. ]

Objective? [ Huh--oh! ] Oh! You mean like complete the quest, move to the next level? Really? You mean last time we had to fight giant sand worms and this time you just got to get away with what's left of your dignity?

[ Well, it works.

Shadow Yosuke is forced to pause to bock his face from getting flying glass in it. Although there's a flash of something else, the sort of glow of a spell, he's not able to pick up what it is. ]

T'ch! Cute.

[ Yet as he goes in for the attack, he's in for a sad surprise--

--which it reflects right off of her and onto him. ]

[ Time to go! Yosuke nods over his shoulder as he starts to turn the other way, which the robots seem to pick up on quickly. ]

Halt! By resisting arrest, you only add to your charges!

[ Yosuke huffs. ]

You're not really giving us a lot of reason to stay!

YU

[ It would normally take more than just a glance to hold him in place, but Yu is special. He always has been. He's never really seen Yu as just entertainment, but it's easier to try and break away from the conversation that way. it is, after all, his calling card. The world is just too boring.

He doesn't back away when Yu approaches, though he does look a little wary. What exactly is he getting at--

You should know, Yosuke... I'm more selfish than everyone thinks I am.

His eyes widen considerably when Yu embraces him. He freezes, unable to move, but wanting to run.

I won't let you go. No matter what happens.

Does he really want Yu to, when it comes down to it?

We'll always be partners... and I'll do everything I can to make sure that keeps being true.

There's a long, long pause, weight in the air that presses down on him. The golden in his eyes soften enough, just enough. ]

...I--

[ His voice breaks and his image suddenly begins to glitch, flickering in and out of an error code before he finally resets. Himself again. ]

Oh really? [ Yosuke narrows his eyes as he tilts his head to the side. ] I wouldn't call the guy an open book, so what does that make you?

[ There could be a witty metaphor in there somewhere, but he decides to leave it open-ended. It's so easy to draw his own conclusions, to give into the gut feeling of anger knowing that this boy has caused his best friend pain. Yosuke can be quick to judge and simultaneously quick to forgive, but not right now. ]

Heh.

[ He looks almost amused, crossing his arms as he shifts his weight to one hip. ]

Sure, if it was that altruistic. I'm not even sure if I want to like you or not. If you turned out to be an asshole, then it'd be a helluva lot easier to be pissed off at you. Maybe I like it easy.

[ He cringes visibly when she repeats the awfulness he'd been spewing just moments before. Shadows could be so cruel. Hyperbolic--not liars, but over the top with their assessments, too. ]

It's not--

[ He can't just take it back, can he? ]

--it's not...like that. Not really. He--I mean, I...I've just felt like I'm constantly playing catch-up here. I never know if I'm doing something over again, if I've met someone before and I'm supposed to know them, or if I'm not living up to expectations I set before. It just...pisses me off. I wish I knew what to do. It's a weird feeling, but it's no one's fault.
