I'm sorry. I don't mean to worry you. I just don't know how to explain it over text.

[ Texts Yosuke a location. It's probably whatever the Recolle equivalent of Starbucks is not too far from either of them. ]

[ And he will. Yosuke changes out of his uniform and hops on his bike--he didn't want to have to wait for public transit on a night schedule. It takes him about 20 minutes to get there when he ignores some traffic laws. (Is he a pedestrian or a car? Who knows.)

He parks his bike outside, chaining it to a tree. ]

[ Yu doesn't even own a bike, so he gets to take the bus. Thankfully, it takes him around the same amount of time, between waiting for the bus and the short actual drive. It gives him time to think and try and calm his rattled nerves, but it's tough.

Still, Yosuke will beat him there. The bus stop is nearby, but Yu still has to walk over, so once he actually arrives he'll head inside to look for his friend. Once he spots Yosuke he'll make a beeline for him, ducking his chin and speaking low. ]

I'm sorry for the sudden notice. Let's find a place to sit.

[ un .... less yosuke wants to get coffee first which is fine. one might need coffee for this kind of conversation ]

[ When he doesn't see Yu inside, he waits by the entrance, a few feet from where he parked his bike. He doesn't want to sit down with this nervous energy. So Yu will find him bouncing in place, rocking back and forth on the heels of his feet. He's both relieved and anxious to see his friend. ]

Yeah. No problem. Dad isn't coming home tonight so he won't notice...

[ He pulls the door open and props it with his shoulder, allowing Yu inside before he follows. It's definitely pretty empty inside. ]

Uh...should we buy something to use their tables?

[ Blinks.

Yu lets his eyes lid slightly, pressing the heel of a palm to his temple. ]

I ... forgot. Yeah, we should.

[ Flustered, a bit. Frowns a little, ducking his chin. ]

What would you like? I can get our drinks while you get a table.

[ not that it's really busy enough to warrant that, but the words are out before he can consider them more deeply. ]

Um...

[ He's not super hungry or anything, so... ]

Coffee? Decaf? I guess.

[ Since it is night, but well, he feels adult-ish when he drinks coffee. And he feels a bit like he needs the composure of an adult right now, since he is fairly nervous. Why else would Yu need to talk to him in person if it wasn't a big deal?

With that, Yosuke seeks out a table and decides on one farthest away from everyone as possible.

He plops down into one of the chairs and crosses his legs. And his arms. Then slouches, bouncing one leg at the knee.

No, not nervous at all. ]

[ Yu will nod, wordless, and disappear to go order at the counter. He knows he's probably not making Yosuke feel any better, and distantly, he feels bad for that. The rest of him still feels painfully wound up over the memory, the terror and the empty fury that had come with it.

A few minutes later, he'll return to the table with two cups of coffee. Both are black, and it'll turn out that both are unsweetened. Yu has enough mercy to have brought a few packets of sugar with him at least, and he places those on the table between himself and Yosuke. He'll slide into his seat with a sigh, glancing over Yosuke's stiff and bound up posture and feeling a pang over knowing he caused it. ]

... I won't draw this out any longer. [ A breath. ] Yosuke, what sort of memories have you had? What others have been calling visions, or hallucinomemories.

[ He continues bouncing his leg restlessly until Yu returns, and only then when he's forced to straighten in his seat to reach the coffee. He really doesn't need it at night, but, well. Oh well. Whoever said caffeine wasn't great on the nerves. (Besides everyone.)

He shoots Yu a small smile of thanks at the sugar packets. Yosuke isn't nearly cool enough to drink coffee black just yet. He starts to unload them one by one as his friend speaks.

And pauses after dumping the second packet in. ]

Um...

[ Yosuke fidgets, dropping the empty wrapper on the table. ]

To be honest? Like...I felt pretty behind the eight-ball with that. Everyone was talking about weird memories and changes and I was still freaking out about the damn chocobos...

[ He exhales. ]

Just one. It was weird, too. Uh...actually, I'm surprised Souji didn't say anything.

[ .... Souji?

Yu feels a cold tingle down his spine, though he manages to remain pretty composed. ]

... why would Souji be the one to tell me about a memory of yours?

[ He thinks he already knows why. But if that's where this is going, then...

... what does this mean? ]

[ Oh. So... ]

So...he didn't say anything?

[ Yosuke's actually a little surprised. Don't they tell each other everything? He fidgets in his seat, feeling like he shouldn't be the one to spill the beans, but... ]

I...kinda had one of those visions, except he was in it. And he had the same one.

[ Yu doesn't say anything to that. He's not sure how to feel that Souji didn't tell him first.

Letting his gaze fall to the table, Yu stays quiet for a long moment. ]

That's actually why I asked you here.

[ He lifts his gaze again, feeling tired and trying to keep it off his face. ]

I had a memory. You were in it.

[ Yosuke's brows shoot up. A memory with him in it? It...probably shouldn't be too surprising, considering that Yosuke has now already seen one of the twins, and Yukiko has mentioned them too, but... ]

...Yeah?

[ This... ]

You don't look too thrilled about it.

[ It's not judging, though. ]

What...kinda memory are we talking about?

[ ..... ]

A hospital...

[ A beat, and he gives his head a small shake: ]

I remember... a hospital room. There was a group of us in there. You, Yukiko, and others whose names I don't remember.

A hospital...?

[ That definitely doesn't make him feel any better about this. ]

Was someone sick...?

[ .... ]

I'm ... not sure.

[ The man on the floor, shaking, holding his head...

And Yosuke. His face. His voice. His anger. ]

I think we were all upset. But ... I can't remember why.

[ Not the truth, but also not entirely a lie. He has no idea why they were there. Why that man was on the ground.

But he remembers his own profound sense of ice cold emptiness. The name Nanako.

What do you think we should do... leader? ]

Well...it's a hospital. Most of the time people aren't going there because of something good.

[ He doesn't like the look on Yu's face, either. It's...gloomy, to say the least.

And quiet all of a sudden.

Yosuke let's the silence fall between them for a moment, before he gently nudges Yu's knee with the toe of his shoe. ]

Hey...

Hm?

[ Yu glances up again at the nudge to his knee, realizing all at once how quiet he'd gone.

Leader.

With a shake of his head Yu straightens in his seat, smiling a little. ]

Sorry. I was lost in thought. I'm sure I'm overthinking this. At the very least, I don't remember enough to draw strong conclusions.

[ Why...does that feel like a cop-out? Yu is generally a quiet person, but Yosuke feels like he's suddenly fifty feet away. ]

Yeah...thanks.

[ Should he push it? ]

You seem kinda out of it.

[ The best definition of strength that Yu knows is to hide his pain and carry on.

So that's what he'll do.

He'll shake his head slowly, huffing through his nose. ]

I'm fine. I was a little freaked out, but that's probably not unusual after remembering something like a hospital visit. Really, I should be asking if you're alright. I dropped this on you pretty suddenly.

Yeah...

[ He's..still not entirely sure what he should be thinking, actually. Yu wanted to talk to him about this in person, and then--well...he supposes it is a concerning memory, but he's got so few details, he's not sure which parts he should be worried about. ]

I'm...confused, I guess? I haven't been seeing things like everyone else has, but...why would you remember that? Is someone sick? Or hurt? Are we supposed to make sure someone doesn't get hurt?

[ His expression clouds again, though nowhere near so bad as just a few minutes ago. Yu braces his elbows on the table, loosely lacing his fingers in front of his mouth. ]

I don't know. Is there a rhyme or reason to it? [ A pause, and, very slowly: ] I think... there was something we were trying to protect.

[ Yosuke reaches out and takes a drink from his cup, letting the taste of sugary coffee soothe his growing nerves a little bit. He doesn't answer until he sets it down, keeping his hands on the cup for warmth. ]

In a hospital...if it's not a person, I wonder what it was?

[ His brow furrows. ]

... I think it wasn't a person in danger, but multiple people. Maybe... many people?

[ A pause. ]

I don't know. Without context it's difficult to piece together what we were talking about and why. I just know there was an urgent sense that we had to do something to keep other people from getting hurt.
