[ Yu has been ... quiet, for a few days. Not isolating himself, or even that far outside of his normal self. Just ... a little quieter, a little more thoughtful, like he's been distracted by something.

They're relaxing in bed, Yosuke playing a handheld game and Yu fiddling idly with his phone, when he finally decides to bring up what's been bothering him. ]

Do you remember anything about the culprit? The one responsible for the murders.

[youraffection]

[ Yu has been more quiet than usual, but not alarmingly so. Sometimes he just gets like that and as curious as Yosuke is, he's learned that Yu needs space to sort his thoughts out. He's willing to wait. Always willing to wait for Yu.

He's also happy to just be chilling quietly with his boyfriend, warm and close. His shoulder is pressed against Yu's and as the other boy finally speaks, it raises as he glances along the line of his shoulder at Yu. ]

Hm?

[ He's a little distracted, yes, battling something in his game. ]

Oh, uh...

[ That's a pretty heavy topic . He pauses the game. ]

No, not really. To be honest, most of my info about the murders has come from talking about it with you guys.

[ Yu is quiet for a long moment, staring sightlessly down at his phone. ]

What about the fog? Do you remember that going away? Or, do you remember when I left Inaba? At the end of the year.

[youraffection]

[ This is something that's really bothering him, huh? The fact that Yu won't even look at him... ]

No, man. Sorry. Mostly the stuff I've been seeing feels like...just stuff that's happening around the investigation, if that makes sense? Like I saw my shadow, I saw Naoto's shadow, some people from the job I had...you and Souji, Yukiko. Just kind of...random stuff.

[ Nothing helpful, he feels. ]

Why? Do you know?

[ An even longer silence ensues, Yu's fingers starting to fiddle with his phone in nervous, idle motions. ]

Something doesn't feel right.

[youraffection]

[ Yosuke frowns slightly and nudges Yu's shoulder with his own. ]

What d'you mean?

[covenantal]

[ Yu does not look up, continuing to stare pensively at nothing. ]

About my memories. It feels like something's ... off. It's hard to describe. Like what I remember ... isn't right, somehow.

[youraffection]

Hm...

[ He wishes he had an answer that would make Yu happy... ]

...Do you wanna tell me what you do remember? Sometimes that triggers something else, y'know? I might remember something too.

[covenantal]

[ His thumbs drift idly over his phone screen, which is off, at the moment. Another idle motion. ]

I remember leaving Inaba. That bear was missing, and everything was still shrouded in fog. I remember talking to the man I was staying with. He wasn't convinced we'd caught the killer of the first two victims, and I agreed with him.

[ ... ]

Yukiko-san said she remembered the fog clearing, [ he murmurs. ] But that it also returned later, in the arena. I don't remember the arena, though. Or Ame-no-Sagiri.

[youraffection]

[ Yosuke listens, quietly and attentively. None of these things ring a bell beyond the bits and pieces his friends have shared with him, unfortunately, so he can't offer Yu much comfort in answers...

...So, instead he scoots a little closer, leaning in to rest his chin on the other boy's shoulder. ]

Well, maybe you came back and we figured out who it was?

[covenantal]

[ Yu won't look at him, but after a brief pause, he will lean his head oh so gently against his boyfriend's. ]

... maybe, [ he says, very softly and without conviction. ]

[youraffection]

[ A light sigh through his nose. Okay, that's a bit of progress, isn't it? He'll press against Yu a little more purposefully. ]

I don't remember an arena either, or the Big Bad or whoever. Honestly, I still get kinda jealous when everyone else seems to be remembering more important things, but...we still get stuff that lines up with just each other, you know? No one has all the pieces yet, so we can't just assume that someone else has all the right answers. I know I've been and I just ended up pissing myself off. You don't need to do that, too.

[covenantal]

... you know, that's what Souji said, too.

[ there's the slightest touch of faint humor in his voice. he'll set down his phone, and his hand will find one of Yosuke's, curling their fingers together. ]

I know I shouldn't worry. I just ... keep thinking about it, for one reason or another.

[youraffection]

[ Yosuke smiles, though Yu probably can't see it. He squeezes Yu's fingers in return. ]

We can't really help it. But that's why we have each other, yeah?

[covenantal]

[ A soft sigh, and Yu relaxes for real, the last of the tension seeping out of the previously stiff line of his shoulders. He'll turn his head to drop a kiss onto Yosuke's hair. ]

Yeah. That's exactly right. ... thanks, Yosuke.

[youraffection]

Hey, we both know I'm the brains of this operation.

[ Haha...?

Although... ]

...Actually, d'you remember something...weird about that bear?

[covenantal]

It's true. I'd be lost without you.

[ Noses at his boyfriend's temple, then sits up to blink at him. ]

Weird?

[youraffection]

[ Yosuke readjusts as well, though keeps pressed close. ]

Yeah, like--just the other day I had this vision of us in the TV on like that main stage area or something? With the spiral floor? And we were talking to the bear and I, uh...I kind of took it's head off...

[covenantal]

[ just.

kind of considers that for a moment. ]

... it says a lot about what we've been through, that hearing that isn't too strange.

[youraffection]

I know, right?

[ Yosuke makes a face. ]

Honestly, the weirdest part? The bear was empty.

[covenantal]

[ A pause. And then: ]

Huh.

{ yeah, that's all. ]

[youraffection]

...I guess you haven't seen that yet?
