[ Cuddling Yu is arguably one of his favorite pastimes. Yu is just so cuddable. But at the mention of the cat... ]

Gah! I knew something was off. I haven’t seen that cat all night...

[ He’s got to be up to something. ]

That’s not good.

What makes you say that? Manzoku-san is probably preparing a surprise to welcome us back.

[ INNOCENTLY ]

That’s not comforting at all!!

[ That cat cannot be trusted! ]

You sure you want me here? I don’t know if there’s enough room for you and me and your thirty-pound cat.

[ All at once he'll kiss Yosuke full on the mouth, sighing out slowly through his nose.

After he pulls back: ]

You're right. You'll have to ask his permission to stay.

[ Yosuke almost jumps, but quickly recovers and closes his eyes. He’d be happy to keep kissing...

Then Yu has to go and say that. ]

...Ugh, really? Welp, then I’m screwed.

If you ask nicely he might let you stay.

[ Nuzzles in close, their lips barely brushing as Yu smiles.

... and then he'll pause and shift. ]

... actually, can you help me up?

[ Don't tease him... ]

Oh, yeah--

[ Yosuke pulls away and sits up. ]

Do you want to sit up or off the bed entirely?

[ Yu pushes himself up on his hands. He can do most of the work of sitting up by himself, though it takes him longer than it would if he had help. ]

Out of bed. [ A beat. His expression doesn't change, but his jaw works, a little. ]

Can you help me to the bathroom?

[ It's subtle, but he can't entirely hide that it feels shameful and embarrassing to need so much help. ]

[ Yosuke pauses, watching Yu right himself, and then...

No, he can tell Yu is embarrassed. Yosuke has been painfully in tune with the other boy for a while, heartstones or not.

He nods, scooting off to the edge of the bed so he can land on his feet, before trotting around to the other side to face Yu. He'll help Yu rotate so he's also facing the edge of the bed. He puts his hands under Yu's armpits and bends his knees. ]

Okay, on the count of three. One, two...

[ And one big OOF as he stands and helps pull Yu up to his feet.

And, once Yu is, Yosuke will loop a supporting arm around the other boy, but not before stealing his lips in what he hopes is a reassuring kiss. ]

[ It's with something of a lurch that Yu staggers to his feet. He stumbles into Yosuke a little bit, still finding balancing on his casts strange and awkward.

He's about to apologize when Yosuke silences him with a kiss instead, and Yu only sighs through his nose and leans into it, his arms draped over his boyfriend's shoulders. ]

You're too good for me, [ he'll mumble when it ends, embarrassed and shy but a little less ashamed. ]

Ready for the trek?

[ It's slow going. Yu has crutches, though with Yosuke on one side, he only needs one crutch for the other. ]

[ He would walk Yu back and forth to the bathroom all day if he needed to--if Yu needed it. He knows he'd be as embarrassed as hell if their situations were reversed, and he also knows that Yu would do everything he could to make Yosuke feel comfortable. So Yosuke has to do the same.

Yosuke nods, supporting Yu on one side opposite of the crutch. The upstairs bathroom is (thankfully) not too far, but it's slow goings. He's ready to fight anyone who's inside it when Yu needs it, but thankfully it doesn't come to that. Yosuke manages to push the door open and turns on the light as he supports Yu over the threshold. ]

Watch out for the shift to tile.

[ That little lip that seals it that he has no idea if it has a specific name. ]

[ If it were anyone else he's not sure he'd be able to do it. Souji is the only other person he'd let help him like this, if he thinks about it. Either way, it's still hard, mentally.

But with the crutch and his boyfriend, it's not as hard as it could be. Yu pauses at the threshold; it's too tough to turn around to want to spend the agonizing few moments to do it, but he'll smile over his shoulder. ]

Yes, nurse.

[ He'll be in the bathroom a few minutes. Everything takes so much longer this way, and he has to be careful about each move. He can't risk falling over; he could hurt himself even worse.

But, with some effort, he'll emerge relieved and refreshed. Instinctively he'll reach for Yosuke, and his smile is a little hangdog. ]

Do we want breakfast, or to get back in bed for a while?

[ Yosuke waits patiently outside, leaning against the wall by the door. As soon as it opens, though, he's ready and at attention, accepting Yu's reach as he slips his own arm around Yu's waist. ]

If you want something to eat I can bring it up to you?

[ He doesn't want to make Yu have to struggle down those stairs unless he really has to. ]

[ His arm curls around Yosuke's shoulders, and they start the meandering trip back to the bedroom. ]

... that sounds fine to me. Breakfast in bed?

[ Tying to put a positive spin on it. ]

Yeah!

[ He'll go with that, making sure to hold the door wide open as they step back inside. ]

Got any requests? I'm not a total disaster these days.

[ Yosuke's enthusiasm wrings a real smile out of him, and he'll steal a kiss before slowly settling back down on the bed. ]

Eggs and coffee sounds pretty good to me.

How d'you--

[ And Yosuke will help, making sure that he's properly on the edge before helping Yu swivel as he lifts Yu's legs up off the ground and back onto the bed. ]

--want them?

[ Whew. He stands up straight. ]

Just, uh...don't say "poached" because I don't actually know what that is.

[ Yu will just sit there for a moment, arms folded over his middle as he leans back against the pillows that prop him up.

After a moment he seems to make his mind up about something and shakes his head, smiling faintly down at his lap. ]

Scrambled is fine.

Scrambled eggs, comin' right up!

[ Yosuke will sprint out of the room, which is fairly perky for Yosuke first thing in the morning. (He's not a morning person.)

Yosuke will come back about...fifteen minutes later. Scrambled eggs don't take that long, but the reason will be apparent enough when he's got a tray (that's really just a large book with a hand towel on it) with not only some scrambled eggs that look decent enough, but toast and two coffees. All kind of squished together. ]

Sorry t' keep you waiting.

[ Yu sighs as he watches Yosuke go, absently rubbing a hand over his heart.

Yosuke will find him in much the same position when he returns, hands folded in his lap, thoughtful gaze directed out the window. But he'll turn his head and smile gratefully when he sees what Yosuke's brought, and he'll push himself up a little straighter. ]

Not at all. In fact, I should tip you for such quick and friendly service.

[ the tip will, of course, turn out to be a kiss whenever Yu can steal one. ]

This smells great. You're going to make a great husband someday.

[ smiling, his eyes alight with teasing. ]

[ Yosuke will gladly accept that kiss, which he loses as he sputters at the compliment. Something about your current boyfriend saying that...unfortunately, the only response he comes up with is: ]

Yeah?

[ Shit. Awkward.

So he'll quickly rush into setting the "tray" down on Yu's lap. ]

--Toast! I made eggs with your toast. And, uh, coffee. 'cause we need coffee...

[ Yu hums an assent, his eyes crinkling with his smile. He'll take the "tray" and set the coffee on his bedside table, so it doesn't spill. ]

I'm sorry, Yosuke. I won't tease you like that, if you'd rather I didn't. It's just so cute seeing you flustered.

[ Yosuke pauses in his circle around to the other side of the bed. ]

No, it's...just...

[ A long pause, then he shakes his head before he climbs on and scoots closer to Yu. ]

I know you didn't mean it, but sometimes stuff like that makes me think about the future. And...the future's just...kinda one big question mark right now. Which is a lot to really think about first thing in the morning.

[ He slides up, shoulder pressed to Yu's shoulder. ]

...That, and i'm still trying to get the hang of this whole being not a totally lame boyfriend thing.

[ He gives a small groan and shakes his head before he lets it lead back against the wall. ]

Ugh, hand me the coffee--I'm just yammering.

[ Yu's expression shifts into something sympathetic, and he'll bump his shoulder into Yosuke's once the other boy sits next to him. ]

I know. I don't know what the future holds, either. But that's alright. Whatever happens, we'll figure it out together.

[ He'll lean close to press a soft, lingering kiss to Yosuke's cheek. ]

Besides, if that's what you're worried about, then you're passing with flying colors. You're a better boyfriend than I could have ever asked for.

[ But he will hand Yosuke the coffee. ]

...Yeah.

[ Somehow Yu always makes him feel better with simple sweetness. He'll take the coffee gladly. ]

But here I am supposed to be taking care of you, not the other way around.

[ He offers a lopsided smile. ]

I didn't burn the eggs, I promise.
