[ Yu sighs quietly and rubs a hand up and down Yosuke's back. ]

Me too.

[ A pause, and he looks down at his legs, uncovered by blankets, big socks rolled over his casts keeping his toes warm. ]

Strange, [ he answers after a moment. ] ... itchy.

[ Yosuke looks down along the line of Yu's body to the casts. He...he doesn't like looking at them. The fact that Yu is bedridden because of them doesn't sit well. And sitting is really all Yu can do right now. ]

Do you want me to, uh...itch you?

[ Yeah there's no way that doesn't sound weird. ]

[ Startled, Yu barks a sudden, if still breathy, laugh. ]

No, I... it's-- [ he gestures, smiling. ] Inside the casts. It's fine, Yosuke.

[ That definitely sounded weird. Yep. Yosuke looks appropriately awkward as he clears his throat. ]

I know! It's--...you just have to sit there all...achy and itchy all day.

Mm, it's not so bad. I have a pretty cute nurse.

[ Yosuke puffs up a little at that. ]

You're such a dork.

[ But it will earn Yu a small squeeze of his torso and a soft kiss on the cheek. ]

Can he get you anything?

[ Yu sighs and tilts his face to nuzzle Yosuke. ]

Having you here is enough.

[ He falls quiet for a moment, thinking. ]

Yosuke... I know we didn't have much time to discuss it before, but...

[ another pause. somewhat carefully: ]

Are you alright?

[ There's a pause. A long pause. And then Yosuke tries to grin through it. ]

...Dude, you're the one with the broken legs and you're asking me?

[ But he knows what Yu is talking about and owes him an honest answer. ]

...I'm...okay? Staying with Naoto helped. it's been weird going to work and school. Acting like nothing's changed.

[ It's probably safe for Yu to guess he hasn't spoken to his parents since that day. Though it's also understandable he wouldn't want to distract Yu with it while Yu was on his trip, he also would have said something now that Yu is back.

A small sigh as he rests his chin on Yu's shoulder again. ]

I'm just glad you're back...

[ Yu does not answer Yosuke's smile with one of his own. Instead he just waits, a little concerned, as his hand slowly rubs Yosuke's back. He'll sigh through his nose, tilting his chin up to press a kiss to Yosuke's forehead. ]

I'm glad you had each other.

[ He'll shift a little, trying to see Yosuke's face better. ]

From now on, you'll stay here, won't you?

Yeah. She's pretty cool.

[ He's definitely thankful for that. Souji was gone too and honestly, Yosuke doesn't know Tatsuma and Shin all that well. It would've felt weird being in the house that Yu is supposed to be in without Yu, too. At least he and Naoto have a shared history and he got to know her a lot better. It was for the best.

A small but genuine smile breaks. He reaches up to smooth a hand down the side of Yu's head, gently stroking his hair. ]

...Yeah. If you really want me to.

Of course I do.

[ The way he smiles is a little shy. ]

... maybe it's a little early in the relationship to be moving in together, but considering the circumstances ...

[ a beat, and: ]

Plus, it's pretty much what we were already doing.

...Yeah. It was, huh?

[ He gives an amused huff. ]

It's kinda weird, when you think about it. We went from random study sessions to me staying at your place half the week. How'd that happen?

[ amused: ]

Well, we started cuddling all the time, and it just seemed nicer for you to stay in bed with me than have to trudge home... though, I know that truthfully you're only here for Manzoku-san.

[ Cuddling Yu is arguably one of his favorite pastimes. Yu is just so cuddable. But at the mention of the cat... ]

Gah! I knew something was off. I haven’t seen that cat all night...

[ He’s got to be up to something. ]

That’s not good.

What makes you say that? Manzoku-san is probably preparing a surprise to welcome us back.

[ INNOCENTLY ]

That’s not comforting at all!!

[ That cat cannot be trusted! ]

You sure you want me here? I don’t know if there’s enough room for you and me and your thirty-pound cat.

[ All at once he'll kiss Yosuke full on the mouth, sighing out slowly through his nose.

After he pulls back: ]

You're right. You'll have to ask his permission to stay.

[ Yosuke almost jumps, but quickly recovers and closes his eyes. He’d be happy to keep kissing...

Then Yu has to go and say that. ]

...Ugh, really? Welp, then I’m screwed.

If you ask nicely he might let you stay.

[ Nuzzles in close, their lips barely brushing as Yu smiles.

... and then he'll pause and shift. ]

... actually, can you help me up?

[ Don't tease him... ]

Oh, yeah--

[ Yosuke pulls away and sits up. ]

Do you want to sit up or off the bed entirely?

[ Yu pushes himself up on his hands. He can do most of the work of sitting up by himself, though it takes him longer than it would if he had help. ]

Out of bed. [ A beat. His expression doesn't change, but his jaw works, a little. ]

Can you help me to the bathroom?

[ It's subtle, but he can't entirely hide that it feels shameful and embarrassing to need so much help. ]

[ Yosuke pauses, watching Yu right himself, and then...

No, he can tell Yu is embarrassed. Yosuke has been painfully in tune with the other boy for a while, heartstones or not.

He nods, scooting off to the edge of the bed so he can land on his feet, before trotting around to the other side to face Yu. He'll help Yu rotate so he's also facing the edge of the bed. He puts his hands under Yu's armpits and bends his knees. ]

Okay, on the count of three. One, two...

[ And one big OOF as he stands and helps pull Yu up to his feet.

And, once Yu is, Yosuke will loop a supporting arm around the other boy, but not before stealing his lips in what he hopes is a reassuring kiss. ]

[ It's with something of a lurch that Yu staggers to his feet. He stumbles into Yosuke a little bit, still finding balancing on his casts strange and awkward.

He's about to apologize when Yosuke silences him with a kiss instead, and Yu only sighs through his nose and leans into it, his arms draped over his boyfriend's shoulders. ]

You're too good for me, [ he'll mumble when it ends, embarrassed and shy but a little less ashamed. ]

Ready for the trek?

[ It's slow going. Yu has crutches, though with Yosuke on one side, he only needs one crutch for the other. ]

[ He would walk Yu back and forth to the bathroom all day if he needed to--if Yu needed it. He knows he'd be as embarrassed as hell if their situations were reversed, and he also knows that Yu would do everything he could to make Yosuke feel comfortable. So Yosuke has to do the same.

Yosuke nods, supporting Yu on one side opposite of the crutch. The upstairs bathroom is (thankfully) not too far, but it's slow goings. He's ready to fight anyone who's inside it when Yu needs it, but thankfully it doesn't come to that. Yosuke manages to push the door open and turns on the light as he supports Yu over the threshold. ]

Watch out for the shift to tile.

[ That little lip that seals it that he has no idea if it has a specific name. ]

[ If it were anyone else he's not sure he'd be able to do it. Souji is the only other person he'd let help him like this, if he thinks about it. Either way, it's still hard, mentally.

But with the crutch and his boyfriend, it's not as hard as it could be. Yu pauses at the threshold; it's too tough to turn around to want to spend the agonizing few moments to do it, but he'll smile over his shoulder. ]

Yes, nurse.

[ He'll be in the bathroom a few minutes. Everything takes so much longer this way, and he has to be careful about each move. He can't risk falling over; he could hurt himself even worse.

But, with some effort, he'll emerge relieved and refreshed. Instinctively he'll reach for Yosuke, and his smile is a little hangdog. ]

Do we want breakfast, or to get back in bed for a while?
