[ To be fair, they're both complete newbies. But Yosuke isn't going to let that stop him. Yosuke gears up with a life jacket before plopping down on the jet ski. He gets a quick rundown from one of the rental employees and, yeah, he's got this.

[ Shin's going through the same thing with another rental employee as he just nods at several of the explanations. Well, there's always a first time for everything and hey.

Might as well go full throttle right? Either ways, Shin's going to just give this his all for this, even if it's just a light-hearted competition.

Food's on the line man. ]

On the count of 3, first one to that buoy [ Points to quite the far-out buoy over there, probably the beach limit too. ], and back to our starting position wins!

[ As soon as the competition arrives, Yosuke gets his game face on. Gotta look cool, gotta go fast! He looks out to the horizon and nods when he notices the buoy. ]

Alright, you're on!

[ Turning the key, Yosuke starts the jetski. Okay, so this will probably be awesome even if he loses--but he can't lose! He's not going to lose. Nope. ]

Hope you're ready to eat!...waves!

[ ...Yeah that sounded better in his head. ]

Er...yeah. Okay, three! Two...!

[ With that, he's going to just jet forward at a high speed! Generally it's uh, a bad idea to do that, but when Shin gets into a competitive thing like this, his desire to just not lose flared up really badly.

Leading to him doing stupid shit. ]

Catch ya later, slowpoke! Hope you're ready with my lunch by the time I get back!

[ If you don't think Yosuke is right behind him ready to be stupid, then you're wrong. He totally is. And he's totally going to win. He has something to prove...mostly to himself, but still. It's all on the line. All of it.

How fast can these things go, anyway? ]

[ Yosuke revs the engine and speeds forward, doing his best to pass the other boy. ]

[ Considering both of them are new, it's still a miracle that they haven't caused a crash to happen yet, but either ways, Shin's keeping his speed up, although there are definitely opportunities to pass him whenever he slows down due to a moderately-sized wave.

But yea no, they're definitely neck-and-neck right now! ]

[ It is something of a miracle--at least for now. Unfortunately for Yosuke, Luck is his lowest stat, so something is bound to go wrong. Such is life.

But the buoy gets closer by the second! And honestly? Even just going top speed for the hell of it is fun. ]

[ Boy it would suck if like a seal or something were to make an appearance... ]

[ Damn it, Shin's lagging behind a bit, at this rate he'll be that one to pay lunch!

Either ways, funny you should... say that, considering there is indeed a seagull that's just... flying a little too low. Right in front of the pair of racers. ]

[ Yosuke shouts like he can't hear Shin over the sound of the motors. And you know what? He can't. He's having such a good time that-- ]

[ Yep, swerves the fuck away and flips over his jet ski. ]
