[ Does...Yosuke feel a little one-upped? Yes, yes he does. If anything, that's definitely going to make this more of a competition that it was initially. ]
No man, it's cool. He's a weird guy, but he's a good one.
[ Maybe he should ask this guy about some of the visions he'd had with Souji--
Nah. Not right now. He's gotta kick his ass at this first! ]
We'll see about that!
[ To be fair, they're both complete newbies. But Yosuke isn't going to let that stop him. Yosuke gears up with a life jacket before plopping down on the jet ski. He gets a quick rundown from one of the rental employees and, yeah, he's got this.
[ Shin's going through the same thing with another rental employee as he just nods at several of the explanations. Well, there's always a first time for everything and hey.
Might as well go full throttle right? Either ways, Shin's going to just give this his all for this, even if it's just a light-hearted competition.
Food's on the line man. ]
On the count of 3, first one to that buoy [ Points to quite the far-out buoy over there, probably the beach limit too. ], and back to our starting position wins!
[ As soon as the competition arrives, Yosuke gets his game face on. Gotta look cool, gotta go fast! He looks out to the horizon and nods when he notices the buoy. ]
Alright, you're on!
[ Turning the key, Yosuke starts the jetski. Okay, so this will probably be awesome even if he loses--but he can't lose! He's not going to lose. Nope. ]
[ With that, he's going to just jet forward at a high speed! Generally it's uh, a bad idea to do that, but when Shin gets into a competitive thing like this, his desire to just not lose flared up really badly.
Leading to him doing stupid shit. ]
Catch ya later, slowpoke! Hope you're ready with my lunch by the time I get back!
[ If you don't think Yosuke is right behind him ready to be stupid, then you're wrong. He totally is. And he's totally going to win. He has something to prove...mostly to himself, but still. It's all on the line. All of it.
How fast can these things go, anyway? ]
In your dreams! You better watch yourself!
[ Yosuke revs the engine and speeds forward, doing his best to pass the other boy. ]
[ Considering both of them are new, it's still a miracle that they haven't caused a crash to happen yet, but either ways, Shin's keeping his speed up, although there are definitely opportunities to pass him whenever he slows down due to a moderately-sized wave.
But yea no, they're definitely neck-and-neck right now! ]
[ Damn it, Shin's lagging behind a bit, at this rate he'll be that one to pay lunch!
Either ways, funny you should... say that, considering there is indeed a seagull that's just... flying a little too low. Right in front of the pair of racers. ]
There could have at least been a suspicious memo to check.
[ how rude of them to have neat and orderly desks ]
I guess we’ll just have to keep going and find out. [ and while we're at it let’s avoid the incredibly inviting stairway to heaven first and try for the elevator.
[ Well...maybe it will be a little akin to dungeon crawling, if he thinks about it, at least in regards to the spending probably a copious amount of time running around with nothing to show for it.
He waits beside her as she jams the button. No lights light up. That's upsetting... ]
Maybe they shut them down when it's closed for the day? It could, uh, save on electricity?
[ Okay, he's reaching a bit. ]
As long as the next floor is open...
[ He'll walk towards the stairs and thankfully no giant boulders and whatnot come tumbling down--or more likely, no motion sensor alarms go off. ]
[ Definitely don't trust Janet. She's still part of the Retrospec monopoly. He's not terribly surprised that there isn't much to find in the main lobby, though. This is the area that almost anyone has access to. They're not so stupid that all employee files would be in a cabinet by the front desk.
Probably.
He follows her gaze towards the stairwell. Is she... ]
But, well. He's not really in any position to argue with her, is he? ]
Me?
[ Why me? He wants to ask. But rather than arguing, Yosuke walks over to the stairs, slowing as he draws closer. There's a door to the stairwell, which has a neon sign glowing above it. Yosuke looks up at the sign, gulps, and then tests the door...
[ It could definitely be a trap. Not that Yosuke really wants to be the guinea pig, here...
Still, he goes up a couple of steps as a test. Nothing happens. Well, he figures he can see if the door to the second floor is open, and lo' and behold... ]
Just some more stairs, but it looks like the next floor is unlocked too.
[There's a huff as his only real warning before one of Lucy's spectral hands appear, curling around her arm. An entire person was far too heavy for them to lift, but they could shove—which is what they did, pressing between Yosuke's shoulderblades and pushing forwards like a physical hand.
[ He would give her lip, but, you know that--that is rightfully terrifying. Or so he would think if he could see it. Though he is pushed forward, he glances over his shoulder he's...confused? Did she push him and run back...?
Erm...
Hm...either way...she's really the one in charge here.
No room to argue. He stumbles forward and walks up the stairs lest she push him again. And it's--very uneventful. In front of the door to the second floor, he takes a deep breath and opens it slowly... ]
[Lucy was somewhere between disbelief and feeling insulted. Equal measures of each.
Irritated, but still cautious, she put one foot on the stairs. The world failed to end, they failed to collapse, it was probably safe to take the next one. And the next, and the next.]
[ He's not sure if he should feel better to have her up on the second floor with him, but at least he thinks she'd attack a Retrospec employee before him if she had to make a choice. Probably. ]
Kinda suspicious, huh?
[ He'll keep the door open for her whens he makes it to the top. Though it opens to...one large room. Huh. ]

Wooohooo!!
[ Boy it would suck if like a seal or something were to make an appearance... ]

Yo watch out, there's a seagull in front of you!
[ oh boy. ]

[ Yosuke shouts like he can't hear Shin over the sound of the motors. And you know what? He can't. He's having such a good time that-- ]
ACK!
[ Yep, swerves the fuck away and flips over his jet ski. ]
FUTABA
...Well, it's a business lobby. This isn't actually like a Quest or something.
[ Although to be fair, it wouldn't be terribly out of line for Retrospec to have one just because. Why not throw some Mimics in too. ]
Not to say they don't have some secrets to uncover.

It looks clear.
LUCY
Probably.

Lucy watches Yosuke just as much as the stairwell; nothing popped out of the walls, the steps didn't crumble—they didn't make any noise at all.]
What's in there?
[She's left the desk now to stand not quite at the base of the stairwell, staring up at the door left slightly open.
Also probably a trap.]
