[ It's been four days since they all got back. Four days since he made up with Souji. Four days since Ryoji died.

Yu finds himself still exhausted in ways beyond just the physical, though there's that, too. Four days later, not constantly fighting things and solving puzzles still feels strange. Like he's forgetting something important. Constantly using his Personas had led him to outright collapse at least once, and the memory of that stinging exhaustion hasn't left him.

He's a different kind of tired right now, though. The overworked-yet-still-wired kind, because there is both too much and too little to do, never enough to keep his mind from wandering.

Today, Yosuke is over at the twins' place. They have yet to move, though they'll have to do it soon. Yu, meanwhile, is already mostly packed for that move in a whirlwind of activity that he let himself get lost in as soon as the city stabilized. Officially out of household busywork, he's now ... sitting at the kitchen table reading a biology textbook. He looks, uh, kinda tired. ]

I really should be getting a jump on my studies already, [ he'll murmur, not looking up from the book. ]

[ Four days and it's almost impossible to get back to the normal swing of things. What even is "normal" anymore? He'd been so excited to come back, and yet it's almost as if the near month of wearing the same clothes for 3 weeks straight, barely showering, running through the jungle, struggling against the undead...

Yeah. It's a lot to deal with. And going home to his mom who doesn't think anything is amiss was...difficult.

So he stayed with the twins. One night, then the past few days he's continued to come back. He's tried to make himself useful, help pack. Their company is appreciated because they have a much better understanding of what just happened the past few weeks, but also he feels like he needs to keep an eye on them too.

And he missed them.

He missed Yu.

Yu, who has...had a difficult time. Yu who is currently trying to distract himself with long words and technicalities. He hears what Yu says and sighs. So Yosuke walks up over to him and...leans forward, resting his chin on the top of Yu's head, draping his arms over Yu's shoulders. ]

Dude, class doesn't start this week.

[ The line of Yu's shoulders will jump slightly as Yosuke drapes on top of him, but whether through determination or sheer stubbornness Yu doesn't put his book down.

He missed Yosuke too. The temptation to just melt into his boyfriend's arms is incredibly strong.

He doesn't even realize he's reading the same page for the second time as he mumbles: ]

No, but I'd rather be prepared...

[ Yeah, Yosuke notices that. But he's willing to wait it out. Lazily he glances down at the book and is about as interested in it as he is in the grain of the kitchen table. He'll give Yu a moment...

But he can only wait so long. He knows that Yu likes reading, but this isn't reading because he actually wants to study--this is trying to keep himself busy. He's exhausted mentally, physically, and emotionally. Biology isn't going to help that.

Yosuke sighs dramatically and just buries his face in Yu's hair, pulling his arms up to wrap around Yu's shoulders instead. ]

You're already prepared. You aced your classes. And you've been reading the same page for the past couple minutes.

[ The line of tension in Yu's shoulders starts to drain away when he feels Yosuke's face buried in his hair. Then Yosuke wraps arms around him and...

Yu turns his head slightly. He can't really see Yosuke like this, but he wants to. His thumbs skate idly over the page of the textbook he has open. ]

... I'll be busy. I don't want to get behind.

[ His voice is a little softer. His resistance is slowly weakening. ]

[ He mumbles into Yu's hair, ]

So be busy then.

[ Nope, he's not moving, just slowly leaning more and more of his weight on Yu. ]

C'mon, you need a break.

Yosuke...

[ His resolve is falling way. He can feel it crumbling, so much dust in the wind.

With a sigh he'll shut the book and place it on the table in front of him. ]

You're heavy, [ he'll say, still trying to somehow look up and failing. ]

[ The sound of the book finally closing is very satisfying. Good. Yu doesn't need that.

Yosuke gives a snort and pulls back slightly, raising a brow that Yu might be able to catch. ]

You calling me fat?

[ The second Yosuke finally gives Yu room to move he's up, and Yosuke will quickly find himself drawn into his boyfriend's arms. Yu will lean back against the table and hold Yosuke against him and nuzzle at the shell of his ear, his hair, his jaw. ]

Hmmm... maybe I shouldn't be making so much curry?

[ Mission Accomplished.

And now Yu is in super cuddle mode. He's okay with that. A month ago this would have flustered him pretty easily, but after being without his friends, his family, and his boyfriend while he was lost in who knows where? Yeah. He's going to soak up every second of it. ]

Pffft...

[ He'll readjust, still keeping one arm around Yu's shoulders, while the other will brush through his hair. It is strange, but nice, to be this openly affectionate. ]

At this rate you'll be rolling me down the hall.

[ Yu will mumble something indistinct against Yosuke's skin, practically sagging against him. God, he's so tired, and Yosuke's fingers through his hair are only reminding him of his soul-deep exhaustion. ]

I'll put you on a skateboard, [ he rumbles sleepily, ] and push you.

[ ... yu that's weird ]

[ So he's finally let himself feel tired? That's probably good, as seemingly sudden as the change is. If anything it shows just how tired Yu actually has been all this time. ]

Yu, that's weird.

[ He gives a light tug to the hair that hangs at the base of Yu's neck. ]

Is that how I'm gonna have to get you from here to bed?

[ mgngnghmgmggn. ]

Maybe.

[ Kisses the tip of Yosuke's nose. ]

You could carry me across the threshold in your arms.

[ He...

He could try. Maybe. Yu's only got a couple inches on him, but he has been active in sports... ]

...If I do, do you promise to drop all the studying for the rest of the night?

[ ... Yu just dissolves into laughter and lets his forehead thunk against Yosuke's. (tbh his face is souji's on the left.) ]

I'm not -- you don't have to carry me. If I'd known you were so determined to cuddle, I might have stopped sooner...

[ It's nice to hear him laugh, even...if it might be slightly at Yosuke's expense?? No, really, he's okay with it. And his shove against Yu is pretty playful. ]

Oh shuddup!

[ HE WAS TRYING TO BE THOUGHTFUL AND/OR ROMANTIC OKAY. So rude. Time for Yosuke to pull away, okay. ]

Maybe I'll just go by myself!

Noooo.

[ Yu follows, taking his chance to drape his arms over Yosuke's shoulders and just lean against him. ]

Help me, Yosuke. You're my only hope.

[ star wars jokes! ]

Oh my goooood...

[ Yosuke is tempted to collapse just to make a point. But he'll complain, at least, because he's good at it. ]

Are we sure I'm the one that's getting fat?

I can leave you to cuddle with Manzoku-san instead.

[ don't test him. ]

Oh c'mon...

[ Look, he knows you like the cat! (Even though Yosuke is still pretty certain that one should see a vet. It is definitely way too fat to be healthy.) But Yosuke is better than cats.

To normal people.

...Probably not to the Narukamis. ]

I'm going to your room.

[ Which seems like he'll be awkwardly dragging Yu on top of him, at this rate. ]

If someone shows up and wants to make out with me, then I'll just see where things go.

[ ...

and will grab both of yosuke's hands and lead them both to the bedroom. ]

You'd make out with Manzoku-san? I didn't know you loved our cats so much, Yosuke.

[ EYEROLL. ]

You had to make it weird, didn't you?

[ Of course he did. Because he's Yu, and he's always been a little weird. ]

No way. I don't like the way he stares at me.

[ He knows something... ]

[ Tug, tug, tug.

Tugs Yosuke over to his bed,

and then pushes him onto it.

Then clambers onto the bed beside him and pretty much just clings to his side like a barnacle.

deep and throaty, though the effect is somewhat ruined by Yu's voice being muffled in Yosule's shoulder: ]

Maybe he just senses the depth of your feelings for him, Yooosuke.

[ Well this is the second time he can mentally pat himself on the back for a Mission Accomplished, even at the expense of his dignity.

No, it is totally worth it. Yu is smiling and laughing. That's really all he can ask for.

Even if Yu is an awful troll sometimes. ]

Okay, there's gonna be some ground rules for the kind of shit we talk about in bed.

[ He wiggles and rearranges his arms real quick, making sure he can wrap one around Yu's shoulder as he lays on his back. ]
