[ Who doesn't want to spin around endlessly in circles!? Okay, he would get sick after a while, but right now it's perfect. Slowing down is a little disorienting, but Yu doesn't leave him hanging for long. He let's out another "whoop" as Yu starts running with the thing, and then laughs heartily when he hops on as well. Yosuke can feel his weight shift the ride and it sends his heart in his throat for a second. ]

Ahahaha!

[ This? This is the best.

Yosuke throws his hands in the air. ]

This is the best!

[ Yes, they'll slow, but right now he'll enjoy the adrenaline.

Eventually, it does slow, his head spinning now more than the merry-go-round is. He's almost giggling as he looks to the other side where Yu is situated, bright and happy in the dimly lit playground. ]

[ Yosuke whooping and cheering, clearly having the time of his life - that's enough to get Yu to start laughing, and he can't seem to stop. The two of them spinning and spinning on a merry-go-round on a deserted playground at nearly 3 in the morning...

... this will be a memory he'll always treasure.

Once they finally slow down, Yu will hop off, looking a little green. But his eye is drawn to Yosuke like the other boy really is putting off light. He'll move around towards his friend - boyfriend? - and place a hand on Yosuke's shoulder, ducking his head as if winded. ]

That was more intense than I expected... [ he's fine really ]

[ Don't get sick, Yu. Don't ruin the moment.

Thankfully, he doesn't. The merry-go-round nearly stops, but moves just enough to help bring Yosuke closer to the other boy once he gets off. The hand on Yosuke's shoulder is enough to halt the movement completely. He looks curiously, happily at the other boy's face, on a high from the merry-go-round, from Yu--from everything around them.

Yosuke is breathing hard as well but in the best of ways. Yu's hand on his shoulder feels warm and welcoming. As Yosuke moves to stand, a little dizzy himself with the sudden head rush of being properly upright, his step brings the two of them much, much closer.

His heart skips a beat only a couple inches away from Yu's. His smile fades, but his expression remains open, hazing slightly over with...something. ]

Yeah...

[ Something is definitely more intense, but it's not the merry-go-round. Yosuke's eyes scan Yu's face, brows down to his jaw. He licks his lips slightly and forces himself to look away as he clears his throat. ]

You're not gonna get sick on me, are you?

[ A small grin and some humor to lighten the mood he suddenly brought places... ]

[ Nah, he's fine. He actually did get dizzy, but he's not actually feeling that badly. He'll lift his head as Yosuke actually climbs off the little ride, and--

Find himself confronted very suddenly with the boy he's liked for four months now.

Yu's always registered that he's just a little taller than Yosuke, but never has he noticed it more than in this moment, looking down into normally amber eyes, right now lit in shades of gray thanks to their only source of light being the moon overhead.

He watches Yosuke watch him and wonders at the feeling of his heart, lighter than air, drifting into his throat, where he has to swallow around it. The way the other boy licks his lips, clearly without thinking, is very nearly enough to kill Yu where he stands.

It's just as he's starting to lean in that Yosuke looks away, and Yu is snapped out of his reverie. He'll straighten his spine, trying not to blush, and give his head a little shake. ]

No, I ... I'm ...

[ It's his turn for his eyes to flick to his best friend's lips before glancing back up. ]

I'm fine.

[ Stepping away would put too much emphasis on how close they are, but staying close is equally exciting and a little nerve-wracking. Strange with how close Yosuke has been to his friend before, but the context changes everything. He's keenly aware of the heat that emanates between them, heat that travels up his arms and makes the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.

He risks a glance back to Yu, catching a look that makes his heart beat faster. Yu's silver eyes and hair, something Yosuke would have never expected to see on the guy when they first met, really suits the atmosphere. Silver like the moon in a grossly poetic sense. Yosuke has always liked the moon, but it's harder to appreciate in the city. In this park, though? It shines high above them, laying on the edges of Yu's cheekbones and jawline--drawing a little too much attention to them.

Gulp. ]

...G-Good!

[ He's not nervous.

Nope.

Why do you ask.

It is good because Yosuke takes a jump back before dashing over to the jungle gym. Yes--running around a bit makes his nervous energy a bit more easy to handle. He knows they need to talk about some very important things, but they can horse around a little more too, can't they?

Taking hold of the handle bars, Yosuke hoists himself up one side of the jungle gym in two wide steps on the ladder. It's definitely not made for a gaggle of teenagers to hang out, but Yosuke manages it easily. ]

Heh heh, doesn't it feel kinda weird that you're finally getting ready to go off and be an adult but you're dicking around on a playground at three in the morning?

[ Yosuke is ... beautiful. Like, objectively. He has fine, handsome features, a bow of a mouth that smiles easily, and eyes that reflect all the energy he has for the world. Yu's initial infatuation on the other boy, after all, had come from thinking the other boy was cute. But seeing Yosuke in the moonlight like this, glowing in a way that was maybe more than just the light, made his heart race. He really... wanted to--

Ah, well. Perhaps Yosuke knew what he was thinking, running off like that... he'll have to ask permission when he tries again.

Yu trails slowly after his best friend, hands in his pockets as he watches Yosuke with a tiny smile. Yosuke is already atop it by the time Yu reaches the ladder, but he rests a hand on one of the lower rungs and peers up at the other boy. ]

... I just graduated a few hours ago, [ he murmurs, ] but I didn't age ten years. The things I like haven't changed at all.

[ "The things I like" ostensibly referring to spending time on playgrounds at 3 AM, given the context, but somehow, the fond but intense way he looks up at Yosuke probably makes it obvious what he's really thinking of. ]

[ In some ways Yosuke is a little jealous that Yu has graduated. He gets to start this new and potentially awesome chapter in his life, away from the tediousness of high school, but it's also a place that Yosuke really can't follow. He'd be lying if he said he hadn't been worrying about this for a while, wondering fi this would jeopardize their friendship in anyway. But now, with this, he's not so worried anymore.

Excited? Yes. Confused? Yes, still confused, but not worried.

He's ready to spend the summer with Yu, but boy is he not sure if he will ever learn to handle this--the way that all of Yu's attention settles on him like there's nothing else around him, like this playground is the entire world and only what happens in front of him is important. Yosuke swallows, his heart picking up speed once again. He's thankful for the bit of distance because he's pretty sure his face is going to start impersonating a tomato pretty soon. ]

I guess that's true...

[ Yosuke manages to hold eye contact for a moment before the intense look in Yu's eyes is just too much. It sends sparks up his spine and urges him to move--so he does. Turning around, Yosuke hops up onto the next platform, one that connects to the slide. ]

Is it weird to think about, though? That you're done with high school?

[ Well, Yosuke's on the move again. Yu decides not to follow him up there, instead opting to stay on the ground and watch as Yosuke clambers all over this jungle gym. It's fun to watch, anyway, and Yu can meet him when he gets back down on the ground.

Which is exactly why he drifts over towards the slide. He'll lean against the side of it, arms folded over his chest, as he looks up at Yosuke. ]

... a little, [ he admits, the set of his face going a little gentler. ] Like I said earlier, all of this feels surreal.
[ A beat. ] In a way, it feels like things aren't changing that much. Once the summer is over I'll be back in classes just like always.

[ Seeing Yu lean against the slide feels like an invitation, intended or otherwise. Yosuke places his hands on either side of the wooden pillars that flank the top of it. He judges the width and--yeah, he can kind of squeeze in between, can't he? Heh heh... ]

Classes, yeah, but you'll get to actually pick what they are and when they are! Like you won't have to get up at five in the morning. That's pretty awesome, isn't it?

[ Unsurprisingly, he plops himself down and sure enough, manages to sit down in the opening. His shoulders make it more of a tight fit, but he's got it. ]

Man, how big are kids these days?

Unless I take a six AM class... [ Looks thoughtful for a moment.

Do 6 AM college classes even exist? ]

It'll be nice to have more control over my schedule, though, yeah. I might be able to pick up a second job.

[ Of course that's what he'd use the time for.

Yu will grin up at him, not having any sympathy. ]

About as big as you, seems like.

Ugh, if that's a joke it's a bad one!

[ Teasing, but...also mildly horrified. Why would anyone choose a class that early? Gross. ]

A second job? Dude, when are you going to have any time t--

[ --spend with me?

He coughs. Wow, that would have sounded whiny and needy and he's not...even 100% sure if he should assume what they are. At least he's able to send Yu a miffed look, amused though it is. ]

So pretty big is what you're saying, right?

[ All five feet and nine inches and one-hundred and twenty-eight pounds of him. He turn his attention back down to the length of the slide. In all honesty it's not that big, especially in comparison to Yosuke, but hell if that's going to stop him. ]

Alright, here we go...

[ He wiggles his butt a little to see if he's got room to slide and he sure does. So, with that, Yosuke uses his leverage on the sides to push himself forward. And down he goes! ]

[ ... any time to ... what?

Yu doesn't want to feel hopeful about where that was going, but he also can't quite help it. He told himself he was seeing things that weren't there for weeks, and it turned out that everything Souji and Karkat said turned out to be true. Well, seemingly, anyway, given they still haven't really talked about it.

Well, they will soon. Yu stands up straight and moves back, past the end of the slide, and he's got a grin on his face as he waits there to catch his friend once Yosuke reaches the bottom. He'll grab Yosuke's arms once they're in range and tug him to his feet, taking a few steps back as Yosuke's momentum pushes them both and laughing freely.

Carefully, warmly, ducking his chin a little: ]

... I'll make sure to leave time for the things that are important to me.

[ It's a short ride, but fun. He considers, for a short second, finding a water park to go to this summer--the kind with big, proper slides that are perfect for adults and intertubes and wave pools and all that fun stuff. Yeah, they can bring the whole gang along!

Yu is right there and Yosuke's pleased to be caught, in a way. As he's tugged upwards his weight pushes forward against Yu, arms colliding a little awkwardly, but they don't fall over. Instead he's left standing almost flush against his friend, staring those short two inches upwards into eyes that he's really starting to believe are fighting the moon for presence over the place.

His heart skips another beat. Yu always looks so...sweetly shy like that. ]

Yeah...

[ He lets out a small, airy laugh, allowing himself a short moment of staring before he looks down at his hands awkwardly holding onto Yu's biceps. ]

...I-I know you will.

[ Yu has a small whoof of air forced out of his lungs as they stumble together, but they stay upright, and there's something sort of romantic about it, isn't there? Catching someone like this. Placing his feet to keep them both balanced, Yu curls his fingers a little on Yosuke's arms and finds himself, once again, looking down into his best friend's face.

Maybe second time is the charm? The soft feeling between them, the light of the moon, the way Yosuke looked up at him even if only for a brief moment... this time it's Yu to lick his lips, but he doesn't lean in just yet. Instead he murmurs, very low, a little uncertain: ]

Yosuke, I... can I--?

[ There is most definitely something romantic about it, Yosuke feels it too. The air between them grows heavier, but not oppressively, just present and difficult to ignore. He's keenly aware of how close they are, every place where they touch and the places were they don't. The rise and fall of Yu's chest, of his own. It's...

It's enough for Yosuke's heart to beat so loudly he can barely hear Yu's murmuring, a small, hopeful question.

Ba-dum..

He knows what this is, doesn't he? It's-- ]

--S-Swings!

[ Yosuke suddenly blurts, and then mentally cringes. And yet there goes his mouth without him once again.]

You wanna go on the swings?? I bet I can go higher than you!

[ With that, he turns, pulling himself mostly free of Yu's hold, but lets his own hand slide down to grab onto Yu's wrist and drag him along.

He just...totally ruined the moment.

He feels incredibly stupid. ]

[ Ah.

Yu ends up just kind of blinking when Yosuke basically yells "swings!" in his face, and then blinks a few more times when Yosuke snags his wrist and they're off again. He trails after his friend, tugged along literally and figuratively by Yosuke's excitability, and huffs a sigh through his nose. He doesn't seem to mind too much that the moment was ruined, anyway... in fact, after a few moments to reflect, he'll end up smiling. ]

You can try, [ he says casually, trying to ease the mood. Once they reach the swings Yu will select one and plop down in it. ]

Ready to lose?

[ He's stupid, he's sorry. He panicked and he isn't sure if that's what he really wanted or not. The thought of kissing Yu--that's what was happening, right?--it's exciting and scary at the same time. He's never kissed a guy before--never even considered it--and the only time he's kissed a girl was really kind of a huge let down. Is he afraid he won't like it? That he'll be disappointed and realize he can't do this?

Maybe.

He doesn't want to lose this feeling that he has.

So he drags Yu over to the swings and takes the swing next to Yu's. ]

You're on!

[ He sits down, adjusting slightly, before he takes a few steps back to get the swing, well, swinging. ]

[ They'll figure it out. They like each other, they have each other - that won't change, as far as Yu is concerned. Their bond is strong enough now to weather this, whatever comes of tonight; so right now, he's just along for the ride.

The ride that has taken them, of course, to the swings at last. Chuckling, Yu will also kick off, putting his strength into it. He hasn't been on a swing in a long, long time, but you never really forget how it works, do you? His body reacts automatically to what he should be doing, and it makes him laugh outright. ]

Come on! [ Calling to Yosuke from the apex of his swing. Then, as he falls back: ]

You don't really think you can beat me, do you?

[ Them's fightin words. ]

[ Them's definitely fighting words, and Yosuke is competitive enough not to let this opportunity to show up Yu go. He grins, finding some comfort in the relative normalcy of this situation.

He swings harder, leaning as much of his weight as he can into the motion. The bars of the swing set begin to creak as two teenage boys test it's strength. ]

I was awesome at this as a kid! [ He shouts behind him as he swings forward. ] You're gonna be eating your words!

[ It's hard to tell who's winning, really. Both swinging hard, flying up and turning towards the sky. ]

The moon looks huge like this, huh?

[ There's a lot of creaking going on. This old swingset probably isn't used to to teenage boys on the cusp of adulthood putting it through its paces. But test it they will, Yu feeling egged on by Yosuke's natural competitive spirit. He's not a terribly competitive person himself, but it's easy to get swept along in Yosuke's fire. ]

Oh yeah? You'd better be ready to prove it!

[ He puts all his effort into swinging, and has to pull back when he feels the weightlessness that comes with nearly flipping upside down at the apex of his swing. Yikes. Deciding it's fine if Yosuke wins, he just swings normally, watching the moon. ]

It does... pretty amazing, huh?

[ On impulse, once he reaches the top of his next swing, Yu launches himself into space. Given his height and speed, he actually flies quite a ways before hitting the ground running, unable to laugh from being so breathless. He'll turn to face the swing set, surprisingly far behind him, and start back towards it. Though he's beckoning for Yosuke to try the same thing. ]

[ He is so not expecting Yu to do that--it's a little crazy and a little impulsive, two things he wouldn't peg his friend for. But watching Yu do it is really kind of awesome, if a little scary at first. Yosuke's heart is in his throat as Yu is suddenly flying, though he's relieved to see Yu make a landing. ]

Wow, you got some serious air, Yu!

[ It's impressive.

At Yu's beckoning, Yosuke grins, making another couple wide swings and--

--flying he goes! He wants to break Yu's record, get some distance on him--

...Which he does! Almost. Except he doesn't land running like Yu does. Nope, he kind of trips and rolls on himself and gets grass all over his pants.

Oh well. ]

[ Yu is laughing as he trots over to his best friend, helping Yosuke get back to his feet. He'll grin, not hanging on or lingering this time, simply getting Yosuke on his feet and breaking away, moving back to take a seat on one of the swings. This time he keeps his feet planted, using those to rock himself gently back and forth. ]

So did you, [ he adds, with faint humor. ] Though that landing could use some work...

[ For what it's worth, Yosuke laughs too, albeit a little self-deprecatingly. He sighs as Yu pulls him to his feet and looks sadly down at his pants. He liked these jeans... ]

Yeah, you're telling me...

[ He watches Yu take a seat and decides to do the same--except he ends up turned around, sitting in the opposite direction. That way as he swings back and forth--with a little more vigor than Yu--he can look at the other boy. ]

I guess that means you win, since I biffed it.

I won, huh?

[ Yu tilts his head back and smiles thoughtfully at the moon.

It's nice that they can see each other this way. Yu watches Yosuke's face out of the corner of his eye as he swings and suppresses the urge to laugh again. He says quite still and calm himself, mostly just pushing himself idly back and forth on his toes, both of his hands gripping the chains of the swing.

Innocently: ]

So, what's my prize?

[ Yu, that sound suspect. You're cute as hell, but that's suspect.

He really is cute, though, huh? Yosuke has always thought that the twins were attractive--you don't have to be attracted to guys to be able to appreciate it, right? They're tall, good features, wide shoulders, high cheekbones, perfect eyebrows, etc. etc. Yosuke could easily find it in himself to be jealous, and maybe he was a little in the beginning, but he's mostly just learned to appreciate it.

Maybe more than he realized? Honestly, it really hit him when Yu's eyes first changed color. He'd been unable to look away for a long time, not to notice them, and somehow they just...fit. He's into it.

Yeah, he's into it.

So as innocent the not-so-innocent question is, Yosuke manages to keep looking into Yu's eyes with a challenge in his own. ]

What, you mean more than bragging rights? Man, you're greedy.

[ He pushes himself up a little further and just lets gravity do it's job of swinging him back and forth for a moment. ]

I dunno. We've got that thing tomorrow, so we'll probably be pretty busy all day, huh? Um..

[ Okay, now he looks down at the ground, watching his feet glide slowly over it. ]

I could get you lunch on Sunday...?

[ Would that make it a date? ]
